River Expeditions

Bear Claw Lodge features river expeditions on the Skeena and Kispiox rivers. Explore the colourful past of the region as you float through ancient First Nations sites and explore the history of the rivers by boat. Guests enjoy excellent campfire cooking, prepared using local ingredients, while enjoying local stories on the banks of the river. Our river expeditions are great for couples, families, or a group of friends! The length of the expeditions vary from three to seven days.

Float Trips

Our float trips allow guests to enjoy the gentle lapping of the river against their boat as they drift peacefully amidst the lush green forest. We often see a bald eagle, perched in his favourite fishing spot, keeping a watchful eye on us as we float by. Guests also often see beavers hauling limbs and brush to feed their insatiable building instinct, salmon rolling just ahead of the raft, and other local wildlife exploring the river’s edge. It’s not uncommon to see larger animals such as bears, moose, and deer.

Our most common float trip is from the Sweetin-Kispiox River confluence downstream to Bear Claw Lodge. The float takes anywhere from three to six hours, depending on how long guests stop for lunch or if they wish to do any fishing or hiking along the way. After a long day on the river, guests can finish the day off with a relaxing soak in our river rock Jacuzzi.
